ash frost

Ash is a Mid North Coast NSW based artist and arts worker with a soft spot for the South West of WA after working with communities across Noongar Boodjar. Ash specialises in community arts, working collaboratively with communities to explore personal and collective stories of place. She has coordinated a wide range of projects, from NAIDOC women's weaving projects to youth documentary series. She also has her own arts practice where she is happiest exploring themes that are of current interest to her. The works are very process driven and often end up as personal inventories of time and space. This is often objects found, drawings, & paintings that reproduce familiar scenes to her, like fruits in summer, faces she knows, or abstract banskia landscapes. Spring is her favourite season and you will often find her staring into local blooms. She is bringing with her a wealth of experience to our programs and our studio. How lucky we are to have her.

WINTER Artist in residence

Donna edwards

Donna is our Winter artist in residence.

She has been a close ally of The Art Dept. since opening in 2019. Donna is an art educator who has continually offered to share her ideas and skills, whilst developing her own practice. For the past year, she has worked in a flurry; producing large acrylic still life works on canvas and board. Her exhibition ‘Vessels’ was due for exhibition in our Hulberts Rd studio in May, but was sadly postponed due to covid. We will be working closely with Donna, exploring the concept of ‘Vessels’ in our Winter program. We love her lots and we know you will too.
